New MacBook Air (2018) with Retina Display, TouchID and more launched
As widely speculated, Apple has announced update to its cheapest MacBook series, MacBook Air. The company announced the new MacBook Air at an event held in Brooklyn, New York.

“MacBook truly indicates that truly less can be more,” said CEO Tim Cook while unveiling the new MacBook Air. Apple claims that every part of the most affordable laptop has been “cleverly designed”. The new MacBook Air has better display with bigger screen-to-body ratio and better colours in the Retina Display. Having said that the front camera remains same but surprisingly, the new MacBook Air comes with Touch ID. Yes, there's a fingerprint scanner on the MacBook Air for better security. The keyboard has been redesigned for better user experience along with the Touch ID. There's also a new a Touch Track which is better and is claimed to offer better response.

As far as the audio performance is concerned, it is 25% better on all all fronts. There are three thunderbolt ports in the new MacBook Air. Also, there is an 8th Intel CPU with up to 16GB of RAM.

Apple claims that every MacBook Air is made from 100% recycled Aluminium. The new MacBook Air starts at $1199 and will be available November 7.

The new MacBook Air comes in Gold, Space Grey and Silver colour options. The most affordable Retina-display Mac ever also includes an Apple-designed keyboard, a spacious Force Touch trackpad, faster SSDs, wide stereo sound, the Apple T2 Security Chip and Thunderbolt 3.

New Apple MacBook Air specifications
The new MacBook Air features a 13.3-inch Retina display with macOS Mojave operating system. Apple claims that there is 48 percent more color than the previous generation. The new MacBook Air also includes a built-in FaceTime HD camera along with three microphone array for better sound quality when making calls and improved voice recognition for Siri.

The new MacBook Air now includes Touch ID — a fingerprint sensor built right into the keyboard — which allows you to conveniently and instantly unlock your MacBook Air.

Apple MacBook Air comes with the Apple T2 Security Chip. The T2 also features an SSD controller with on-the-fly data encryption for everything stored on the SSD.


MacBook Air also features the third-generation Apple-designed keyboard for more precise and responsive typing. Each key is individually backlit using low-power LEDs for more accurate illumination. The new Apple MacBook also includes the Force Touch trackpad which is claimed to be 20 percent larger than one on the previous-generation MacBook Air.


The 2018 MacBook Air features an 8th-generation Intel Core i5 processor, Intel UHD Graphics and faster 2133 MHz system memory up to 16GB. It features SSDs up to 1.5TB in capacity, that are up to 60 percent faster.


In another addition, there are now two Thunderbolt 3 ports which allow will users to charge their laptops and quickly transfer data via USB. As far as output video is concerned, there are three new formats. MacBook Air 2018 model can now connect to a whole host of devices including external storage, docks for additional ports, 4K and 5K displays, and eGPUs for faster graphics.
