New Apple iPad Pro, MacBook Air & Mac mini launched: India prices, availability announced
Apple has finally launched the much-awaited new iPad Pro models, a new Mac mini and an 'all- new' MacBook Air laptop. The company launched the new lineup at an event held in Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, US. Except for MacBook Air (2018), the other two Apple devices come in different variants and configurations. These will soon be made available in India. Here’s everything you need to know about newly-launched iPad Pro, MacBook Air and Mac mini.

Apple 11-inch iPad Pro

The 11-inch iPad Pro comes in four storage variants (with Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi+Cellular models). Here are the prices of the Wi-Fi models: 64GB - $799; 256GB - $949; 512GB - $1149; and 1TB - $1549. The Wi-Fi+Cellular variants cost: 64GB - $949; 256GB - $1099; 512GB - $1299; and 1TB - $1699. These will be available in the US starting next week.

In India, the starting price of the Wi-Fi only model is Rs 71,900, while the Wi-Fi+Cellular variant starts from Rs 85,900.


Some of the key specifications of 11-inch iPad Pro include 11-inch Retina screen with 2388x1668 pixels, ProMotion tech and True Tone display. It is powered by the A12X Bionic processor along with a next-gen Neural Engine and embedded M12 coprocessor. The tablet features 12MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and a 7MP TrueDepth front-facing sensor.

This time the bezels on all the four sides have been sliced, eliminating the TouchID fingerprint sensor. The device, however, now includes FaceID tech. It is also the first to support USB Type-C port and is backed by a larger battery that is claimed to deliver up to 10 hours of web surfing.

It also supports the Apple Pencil (2nd-generation) accessory that sticks magnetically on to the side of the new iPad Pro. The accessory is priced at Rs 10,900 in India



Apple 12.9-inch iPad Pro

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro has the same storage variants as the 11-inch model. The Wi-Fi only variants costs: 64GB - $999; 256GB - $1149; 512GB - $1349; and 1TB - $1749. The Wi-Fi + Cellular models are priced at 64GB - $1149; 256GB - $1299; 512GB – 1499; and 1TB - $1899.

The Wi-Fi only model will cost you Rs 89,900 for the base variant and Rs 1,03,900 for the Wi-Fi+Cellular base model.


Specification-wise iPad Pro has a 12.9-inch Retina screen with 2732x2048 pixels resolution, ProMotion tech and TrueTone display. Rest of the specifications stay the same as the 11-inch model including Apple A12X Bionic processor, next-gen Neural Engine, M12 coprocessor, 12MP rear sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 7MP front-facing camera. Its battery is claimed to deliver up to 10 hours of web surfing. It also supports Apple Pencil (2nd-generation).



Apple MacBook Air 2018

The new MacBook Air 2018 laptop starts at $1199 and will be available next week. You will get it in India at a starting price of Rs 1,14,900 with pre-orders beginning from November 7.

Some new features added to the device include TouchID, Intel 8th-gen processor, 8GB or 16GB RAM support and a 1.5TB SSD storage variant in addition to the existing 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage variants.

It features a 13.3-inch LED-backlit Retina display with IPS technology and 2560x1200 pixels resolution. The new laptop supports a battery life of up to 12 hours of web surfing. It also includes USB Type-C port along-side two Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports.

In addition to this, the new MacBook Air features a Force Touch trackpad. What’s missing this time is the SDXC card slot and the and the external USB Superdrive support. It will be available in Gold, Silver and Space Gray colour models.



Apple Mac mini 2018

The new Mac mini desktop is priced at $799 and $1099 for the 4-core and 6-core models. In India, the device starts at Rs 75,900 and will be available from November 7.


It supports 8GB RAM and is configurable with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB RAM capacities. As for the storage, the 4-core model comes with 128GB SSD storage, while the 6-core model features 256GB storage. Both can be upgraded up to 2TB storage capacities.


Featuring Intel UHD Graphics 630, the new Mac mini support up to three displays of which two include 4096x2304 resolution at 60Hz and one with 096-by-2160 resolution at 60Hz. It comes with an Ethernet port, 4xThunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports, HDMI 2.0 port, 2xUSB 3 ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Gigabit Ethernet Port is configurable up to 10GB Ethernet.
